I want to thank you for your interest in New York University's College of Global Public Health.
Solving the complex public health problems which confront the world requires the dedicated involvement of an impressive array of committed individuals applying inter-disciplinary creativity. Just as disease and political instability are not confined within borders, we know that the solutions to these problems must come from a diverse collective of scholars and leaders collaborating across both political and academic boundaries. Drawing upon the entire academic breadth of the University through collaborations between multiple schools and colleges, NYU’s new College of Global Public Health (CGPH) prepares students, faculty and professionals to do just that.
As part of NYU's Global Network University, with its three portal campuses and thirteen global academic centers across six continents, the CGPH is ideally positioned to facilitate a potentially unparalleled platform for learning, research and service. Students at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels will have access to an exceptional array of resources and experts in a truly global city. Faculty will benefit from a University-wide resource for large scale, multi-school, multi-disciplinary and multi-site research projects. The community will take advantage of services, resources, opportunities and programs of interest for the general public and the public health workforce.
The health of a population is inextricably linked to the collective well-being of society, and public health practitioners have made major advances in human rights, justice, and social equality both in their communities and around the world. At the same time, there is much we don't know - from preparing for global pandemics, to addressing the health issues of an increasingly urban world, to more effectively responding to health crises caused by war or natural disaster. These challenges and many more must be addressed by future public health leaders, and the CGPH is positioned to meet them head on, drawing strength from outstanding faculty from across the University, the entrepreneurial spirit of NYU's talented students, and a truly global network of practitioners, leaders, and scholars conducting multidisciplinary research initiatives. Together, we will continue to work to build a healthier future for all.
Public Health is truly public. I hope you will explore this website to learn more about what makes the CGPH so unique and why NYU and New York City are an ideal place to discover and put into practice new solutions to public health problems. Whether you are a prospective student learning more about one of our academic programs, a faculty member exploring the ways CGPH can support groundbreaking new research, or a member of the broader public health community interested in learning more about what we do, we hope to hear from you soon. Join us in our ambitious goal to reinvent the public health paradigm.
