Global Immersion Into Practice and Research

The Cross-Continental Master in Public Health is a full-time, one-year program that seeks to train a cohort of highly-motivated students to embrace the challenge of global public health through a practice-based, skills focused curriculum. The program is taught over three terms at three different global sites, including practice and field placement experience.

  • Master public health skills by applying theories and models in the field.
  • Connect with public health leaders to see ground-breaking techniques first-hand.

Put the Classroom Into Practice

The intensive curriculum is delivered across three NYU global sites. The program is targeted towards recent undergraduates with a focus on building and enhancing public health knowledge and skills to allow program graduates to pursue their academic and career goals. 

Two program tracks are available: 

  • Epidemiology: the applied global epidemiology approach will include epidemiologic principles, public health surveillance methods, field investigations, and survey and sample developments.
  • Global Health: the focus will include global health systems such as methodologies to utilize large and country-level data sets and compare health and economic systems.

Culminating Experience

Students gain boots-on-the-ground training and apply public health skills in global interventions or research on NYU campuses in countries including: Ghana, UAE, UK, Argentina, China, and Europe. No university has a greater global presence than NYU or a more powerful commitment to being in and of the world. Students will benefit from the University's relationship with influential international organizations, such as HealthRight International, the United Nations (UN), UNICEF, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Examples of opportunities CGPH student have experienced, include:

  • Participating in social entrepreneurship research with a business venture
  • Conducting fieldwork in Africa
  • Conducting chronic disease research in the Middle East
