Andrew Burgie

Professor Burgie teaches environmental health as an adjunct in the NYU MPH Program. As Co-Director of the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at the CUNY School of Public Health at Hunter College, he specializes in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training for both City and State agencies.  Trained as an industrial hygienist, he has also conducted numerous indoor air quality inspections, lead-based paint assessments, and general environmental health investigation for commercial and residential properties for various consulting firms over the years.  He is very active in his professional organization, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), in which he has served on several committees that have been recognized Association-wide for their outstanding activities as well as having served as the President of the Metropolitan New York AIHA for a three-year cycle.  He is also active in the Yale Alumni Association of New York where he serves as a Co-Chair for their Public Service/Social Justice Committee. Recently Andrew has traveled to China, Nicaragua, and Ghana with the Yale Alumni Service Corps to teach environmental education to high school students and participate in various public health initiatives.
