The Cross-Continental MPH really fascinated me since it gives you a global perspective on health, the opportunity to travel, have access to incredible faculty and lets you do all of this in an accelerated one-year program."

Coursework

The globally immersive Cross-Continental MPH program will lay a solid foundation for any public health professional.

The courses chosen will provide students with an Epidemiological focus but students will also be able to select Global Health electives of their choice.

The World is Your Campus

The intensive, one-year Cross-Continental MPH certainly puts the “abroad” in study abroad. Over the course of three terms, you’ll put your studies into practice in Washington, D.C., Accra, and Abu Dhabi. You will be exposed to health opportunities and networks in the United Arab Emirates, and in the United States' capital city.  At each of these sites, you will interact with NYU global health faculty, county local and regional health leadership, NGO stakeholders, and professionals from UN agencies including World Food Programme and UNICEF.

Students will complete 180-hours of practicum fieldwork while they are in Accra, Ghana. In the past, students have been placed with organizations such as World Food Programme, Marie Stopes International, WHO, Ghana Health Services, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and UNFPA.

The Program

In 2018-2019, the Cross-Continental MPH Program will be offered at our NYU DC, NYU Accra and NYU Florence sites. Students will focus on Global Applied Epidemiology using research and qualitative methods to critically analyze the determinants of diseases in LMICs and migrant populations.

In 2019-2020, after completing most of their core classes in the summer at NYU DC, students will have a choice to study at NYU Buenos Aires in the fall and NYU Madrid in the spring with a focus on Social Environmental Justice.
