Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a practice used in a variety of counseling settings that can be especially useful as healthcare providers assist with tobacco cessation attempts. A certified counselor can use MI to talk their patient through their relationship with tobacco and collaborate with the patient to determine what steps are necessary for a successful quit attempt.
