Poster Session

As part of the symposium, we will host a poster session and invite public health students, medical residents, junior researchers, and trainees in SCD care or research to submit abstracts. This is a unique opportunity to present work across a wide range of topic areas, including:

  • Social determinants of SCD care
  • Health equity and access to care
  • Newborn screening and early intervention
  • Care coordination and comprehensive services
  • Mental health, psychosocial support, and quality of life (SCD patient and caregivers)
  • Community engagement and patient advocacy
  • Public health surveillance and epidemiology
  • Policy and healthcare systems change
  • SCD care/management in low-resource settings

 

Abstract Format

Abstract Title:

  • The title should be brief and clearly indicate the nature of the work conducted.
  • The title must not exceed 150 characters.

Abstract Body:

  • The abstract should be structured into sections including Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Discussion (include implications for future research/practice).
  • The abstract body must not exceed 3,000 characters. Do not include any references or supporting visuals (e.g., tables, figures).

 

How to Submit an Abstract

  • Submit applications here: Poster Session Application
  • All abstracts must be submitted by October 31, 2025 at 11:59pm EDT.
  • Abstracts must be submitted using this Google Form that will include the following fields:
    • Corresponding Author’s name, affiliation, and contact information
    • Co-authors’ name and affiliation
    • Abstract Title
    • Abstract Body

 

Abstract Review and Selection Process

  • After the submission deadline, all completed abstracts will be made available to the Abstract Reviewers for anonymous review and scoring. Abstracts will be evaluated and scored solely on scientific merits.
  • Notification regarding acceptance or rejection will be sent on a rolling bases to the Corresponding Author by November 1, 2025 at 11:59pm.
  • If accepted, the email will provide poster specifications and other instructions for the Poster Session.
