Originally from Houston, Texas, Tania is a public health and social work professional who is deeply committed to empowering and supporting underserved communities, particularly those facing health disparities. She holds a Master's in Public Health and a Master's in Social Work from New York University. During her time at NYU, Tania served as an ambassador for the Silver School of Social Work, where she also led a peer-mentorship program, and worked for the School of Global Public Health’s Global Health department. Prior to pursuing graduate studies at NYU, Tania became a certified community health worker and worked for the Harris County Public Health Department’s COVID-19 pandemic response. As a student at NYU, she interned at the Center for Practice Innovations at NYSPI and with the Social Behavioral Change team at UNICEF’s HQ. Her research interests focus on minority health, maternal health, mental health, and non-communicable diseases. Tania is driven by a vision of improving health outcomes for marginalized communities and is dedicated to advancing health equity through both direct service and implementation science research. Inspired by rich experiences and the influential mentors in her life, Tania is excited to serve as a mentor with the SGPHF program with the hopes of enriching the professional and academic experiences of her mentees.
