GCIS Symposium
The Global Center for Implementation Science at the NYU School of Global Public Health brought together experts from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, NYC Health+Hospitals, Northwell Health, NYU Langone Medical Center, University of Arkansas, Northwestern University, and Bronx Rises Against Gun (B.R.A.G.) Violence on March 13th to discuss strategies for implementing and scaling Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Programs (HVIPs). A compelling research and policy agenda emerged that includes the urgent need to mobilize communities and elevate their voices, support cross-sector collaboration, invest in workforce development, and implement state and local policies that incentivize scale-up of effective solutions.
“To see individuals that used to be perpetrators of violence now being healers of that violence is immeasurable.”- Dr. Noé Romo

NYU had a strong turnout at this year's Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation in Health! There were 7 oral presentations and 26 posters with NYU authors. We were thrilled to see so many GCIS-relevant themes throughout the conference, including the importance of community engagement and co-design, an emphasis on policy and policy-relevant implementation science, and synergies between intervention optimization and implementation science.
