The information found below will help orient you to the next steps required to prepare to join certificate coursework.
Your program advisor for the Advanced Certificate in Public Health is Alicia Ocasio. You should see her as a resource available to you in any circumstance-course selection, requirements, class enrollment, registration clearance and support for non-academic matters. Step 1: Activate Your Net ID
You have been emailed a University ID number. Now that you have a University ID, you must also activate another form of NYU identification called a NetID. You will use your NetID and password to access your NYUHome account, which is a customizable web interface that links you to your NYU email account as well as other systems and tools, and serves as a home base for all NYU community members.
Visit the NYU Start Page and click the link on the right that says "Don't know your NetID?" begin the process of activating your NYU NetID and setting a password.If you do not know your University ID number, please contact the GPH Admissions Office at gph.admissions@nyu.edu.

Step 2: Activate your NYU Email Address
The following steps will allow you to activate NYUHome Google email account.
- Go to start.nyu.edu.
- Enter your netID then click 'Start.'
- Re-enter your password (that you set in Step 1 above) and click 'Continue.'
- Select the third item, 'Set an NYU Google Apps for Education password.'
- Enter a new password and follow the instructions on the screen to complete activation of your email account.
- To access your NYU email account, click on 'E-mail' under the NYU Home banner on the upper right hand corner or navigate directly to email.nyu.edu, and use your NYUHome credentials.
Most GPH offices will communicate with you via your NYUHome email account exclusively. It is imperative that you check your NYUHome email account on a regular basis.

Step 3: Register for Courses
- Information about how to register through Albert, the NYU registration system, may be found here. We encourage you to read over everything and watch the videos, as it explains all there is to know about how to register, and it will give you a thorough understanding of Albert.
As a certificate student you are required to take 6 courses (15 credits) through GPH. The recommended 1-year sequence is below. Should you want to adapt this course sequencing and take courses over 2 or 3 years- please reach out to your advisors Dr. Melody Goodman (melody.goodman@nyu.edu) or Alicia Ocasio (ao58@nyu.edu). All students will have an advisor hold prior to registering, which may be lifted by reaching out to Alicia Ocasio (ao58@nyu.edu) for assistance.

- GPH-GU 5140 Global Issues in Social & Behavioral Health (3)
- GPH-GU 5106 Epidemiology (3) - please note that you need to select a recitation along with the lecture
Spring 2023 (6 credits):

Important Dates & Deadlines: As you plan your courses, you should be aware of the important dates on the official Academic Calendar. You should also consult the refund schedule which determines the date by which you can drop a course and still receive a refund of the tuition.. The official withdrawal schedule determines dates by which the dropping of a course will result in the recording of a “W” on your transcript.

Step 4: Access your Online Courses
Once you are enrolled in your classes, you can access them through globalhome.nyu.edu. Click on “Academics” and then “Brightspace”, which is NYU’s online learning tool and portal. From there, you will see the class(es) you are enrolled in. You can learn more about Brightspace here.
