Benefits of the 4+1 Program

• Finish early. Students start taking graduate-level courses during their junior year, saving a full year.
• Save on tuition. By taking rigorous graduate courses during junior and senior years, students only pay tuition for one year of graduate school (Year 5/MPH Year):
  • BA/MPH, BS/MPH and BA/MS students automatically receive a $10,000 scholarship from GPH.
  • BA/MA Bioethics students automatically receive a scholarship from NYU GPH covering 50 percent of up to 26 credits of their graduate tuition.
• Engage in research and practice. In Year 5, students enhance their research skills and connect with organizations domestically and globally to gain real-world public health experience.
• Expand your professional network. Students work with our faculty experts and graduate students to grow their public health network and gain career insights.
• Jump start your career in public health. The 4+1 programs allow our graduates to get an early start on their public health careers, whether this be in research, public health practice, or policy.
