Joseph is a doctoral student at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (Uganda), a Public Health specialist from the University of Manchester (UK), a Psychiatrist, and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Busitema University Faculty of Health Science in Uganda. He is a three-time Fogarty research fellow with a focus on Implementation Research and the mental health of children and adolescents with chronic medical conditions like HIV/AIDS, epilepsy, sickle cell, and diabetes.
His current research aims at improving the mental health of children and adolescents living with HIV at the time of HIV disclosure and designing an implementation strategy to improve the uptake of pediatric HIV disclosure guidelines in Uganda.
