William N. Rom Climate Change & Health Fellowship Presentation

April 22
11am-12pm
708 Broadway, Room 801 | Online

Hosted by the Department of Global and Environmental Health

Join the Department of Global & Environmental Health for their Annual Earth Day Event where you will hear from this year’s William N. Rom Climate Change and Health Fellows, Jamilah Maronde and Oyinkansola Babayode. After having the opportunity to attend the 2024 International Conference on Urban Health in Marrakech, Morocco, the Fellows each worked on an independent project with the guidance and mentorship of GEH Faculty members Alexis Merdjanoff and Prince Amegbor.

Climate Change has become one of public health's greatest challenges impacting communities globally through extreme weather events. These events include food insecurity from drought effects, heat and heat waves, forest fires, air pollution from fossil fuels, and coastal flooding with sea level rising. The William N. Rom Climate Change and Health Fellows address these public health issues with projects on climate and health with a faculty mentor. The Fellows' projects range from urban health, small island states, and environmental justice to drought and storm-induced famine, and public health response. Come support our Fellows as they present their Fellowship Presentations to the department and wider GPH community.
