Hosted by the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences
Professor Caitlin Notley is Director of the Public Health Research Department and leads the Addiction Research Group at the University of East Anglia. She is a social scientist, with research expertise in clinical trials and applied mixed methods. Her particular areas of research interest are tobacco smoking cessation, relapse
prevention and harm reduction.
This talk highlights the COSTED trial, which shows that offering e-cigarettes and behavioral support in emergency departments can significantly increase long-term quitting. It explores how routine healthcare contacts can become “teachable moments,” helping reduce inequalities and scale up effective, evidence-based approaches to tackling smoking.
