Mouth Matters: Bringing Civil Society into the Center of Global Oral Health (UGNA Side Event)

September 18
9:30am-5pm
Virtually by Zoom

The Alliance for Oral Health Across Borders (AOHAB) is a global nonprofit dedicated to advancing oral health as a critical, often overlooked, pillar of overall health. Through education, mentorship, and advocacy, AOHAB unites a diverse international network of students, clinicians, researchers, and public health leaders working to close oral health gaps worldwide. Holding consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), AOHAB partners with leading institutions – including the NYU School of Dental Medicine, NYU School of Global Public Health, New York County Dental Society and the Public Health Foundation of India to create the Mouth Matters UN General Assembly Oral Health Side Event Initiative.

On September 18, 2026, AOHAB will co-host Mouth Matters — Oral Health for All: Bringing Civil Society into the Center of Global Oral Health, an invitation-only leadership convening held during the 81st United Nations General Assembly Week in New York City. The day-long gathering will bring together 30–40 leaders spanning civil society, academia, philanthropy, industry, and international organizations to help shape the next phase of the global oral health agenda. Grounded in a mid-term review of the WHO Global Oral Health Plan, the convening is designed to be highly interactive — featuring outstanding and innovative country experiences with civil society representatives co-chairing every working session.
