NYU Office of Global Services (OGS)

The NYU Office of Global Services (OGS) has all the information for you as an international student. In liaison with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, NYU’s Office for Global Services (OGS) coordinates services for F-1 and J-1 international students (Newly Admitted Students, Current Students, Alumni) including information related to I-20s, visa applications, employment, and tax status. 

OGS provides the most current and accurate information regarding U.S. government regulations governing immigration issues and your visa. It is your responsibility to obtain, understand, and abide by U.S. government regulations governing your status while in the U.S.

This is your best source of information about visa, employment, tax and immigration matters.

OGS Mandatory Check-in 

All incoming international students are required to attend a mandatory check-in workshop at OGS within 10 days of arrival in New York. Check the OGS website for the most current list of check-in workshop dates and a list of documents to bring to the workshop.


OGS Walk-In & Virtual Advising Hours

  • You may see an advisor without an appointment during drop-in hours. Drop-in hours are available at both the Manhattan and Brooklyn Campus. 
  • If you can't make it to the OGS office in-person, and need to speak to an advisor one-on-one, you can schedule an online appointment
  • If you need to make an appointment for a more extensive advising session, you can reach out to them at (212) 998-4720 or through their contact request form and request an appointment with an advisor. 

OGS Newsletter and Programs

International students are automatically subscribed to the weekly online OGS newsletter, which provides international students with information and updates about immigration and workshops. Be sure to always read the email from OGS!


Emergency Information

The NYU Office of Global Services normal business hours are Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm. If you have an immigration concern during our closed hours, you can find here information that will give you the most direct path to help.

☛ Cindy Meyers-Barrington

Cindy B is our OGS International Student Advisor. She provides assistance to all graduate international students for all visa and regulations related questions on behalf of the NYU Office of Global Services.

Andrea Muraca

Andrea has an MS in Human Biology and an MPH, and he is the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. He provides support to graduate international students at NYU GPH for general visa’s questions, cultural adjustment and any other life's obstacles that international students may face during their degree at NYU School of Global Public Health. He also provides assistance to all graduate international students who want to pursue Optional Practical Training (OPT) and approves OPT requests. He is also a former international student!

☛ Dr. Karyn Faber

Dr.Faber holds and an EdD and an MPH. She is the Director of Public Health Practice. She provides assistance to all graduate international students who want to pursue Curricular Practical Training (CPT) for their Applied Practice Experience  (APE) and Summer Internship and approves CPT requests.
