While developments in healthcare and research may create opportunities for improvements in public health outcomes, they may carry the potential to cause harm or create inequities. This is why bioethics is a crucial consideration for all researchers.

During this event, Dr. Daima Bukini, a postdoctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins Institute of Bioethics, will explore this topic in her presentation: The Role of Research in Bioethics: Understanding and Improving Care for Sickle Cell Disease in Africa. Dr. Bukini also conducts research at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Tanzania, advocates for expanding access to advanced therapies for patients across Africa. Join us to learn more about this important topic and Dr. Bukini’s research.
