A Dissertation presentation hosted by the DrPH Program

DrPH Candidate, Daliya Ali will present her dissertation on ""Adoption and Use of Health Information Technology by Physicians." Health Information Technology (HIT) holds significant potential to improve healthcare quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. However, its widespread adoption, particularly Electronic Health Records (EHRs), has been linked to increased clinician burden and burnout. Understanding the factors influencing physician adoption and utilization of specific HIT functionalities is crucial for optimizing implementation and mitigating negative consequences. This dissertation investigates the physician and practice characteristics associated with the adoption of various HIT features among US office-based physicians, exploring physician characteristics (such as, specialty and age), practice characteristics, and excessive physician workload indicators.
