Seminars and Events

Seminars

The Biostatistics Seminar Series consists of presentations by a wide range of academic and industry professionals, invited by our department to speak on topics of broad interest across the spectrums of statistics, biostatistics, and data science. In addition, this section includes other relevant presentations within our department, as well as joint presentations hosted alongside other departments in the NYU Statistics community.

Journal Club

The Biostatistics Journal Club is a monthly, student-led discussion (moderated by Dr. Betensky) where we discuss contemporary articles concerning the field of biostatistics. Each month, we cover a different, student-selected article; please let us know if you are interested in choosing this article and leading the discussion.

Professional Development Series

Our department strives to ensure that you’ll be prepared for professional life post-graduation. In service of this, we will organize monthly events at which fellow students, other NYU resources, and external professionals can speak to you about the skills required to succeed at NYU and beyond.

  • All previously scheduled professional development events have passed; please check back soon as additional offerings are finalized.

Student Life

In addition to learning and preparing for fruitful careers in biostatistics, it is also important to us that students be able to enjoy themselves while connecting with one another during our program. To this end, we host many events with the specific aim of fostering these connections, as well as providing opportunities to explore the city of New York.

  • All previously scheduled student life events have passed; please check back soon as additional offerings are finalized.

*While most upcoming events are likely to occur at the listed times, we will send out communications and RSVPs prior to each which will serve as concrete confirmation of schedule.
**We will create RSVP forms for many events. In the case of catered events, this is required for us to gauge how much food to order (and occasionally take individual orders), but otherwise this is an optional, low-commitment RSVP that just gives us an idea of how many people to expect.
