Join Dr. David Abramson, his team at the Population Impact, Recovery, and Resilience program, and other NYU GPH faculty-researchers for a two-hour program on public health disaster research. Discussants will include:
Dr. David Abramson, Clinical Associate Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences
Dr. Jack Caravanos, Clinical Professor of Environmental Public Health Sciences
Ms. Sarah Friedman, Data Manager and Analyst, PiR2
Dr. Robyn Gershon, Clinical Professor of Global Public Health
Dr. Alexis Merdjanoff, Clinical Assistant Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences
Ms. Rachael Piltch-Loeb, Junior Research Scientist and NYU GPH Doctoral Candidate
The forum will highlight the work of PiR2 and what has been learned in research over multiple disasters, from 9/11 through Katrina, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Joplin tornado, and Superstorm Sandy, among others. Panelists will consider the application of Public Health Disaster Science to hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and how to make it relevant for policy-makers and the public.
