The GPH Career Week presents an exciting series of workshops, panels, networking opportunities and special events designed to heighten your awareness of a variety of Public Health career paths, provide you with strategies to become competitive candidates and deliver tools for you to conduct successful searches within Public Health careers.

Monday, September 9, 2019

12:00PM - 1:00PM: Applied Practice Info Session with Dr. LeConté Dill, Director of Public Health Practice

Dr. Dill will host an applied practice information session for students who will pursue their APE (Applied Practice Experience) in the Summer. 
Students will be able to ask questions about the AP Experience and begin to brainstorm about where they would like to complete their AP Experience.

 

2:00PM - 3:00PM: What I Wish I Knew with the GPH Student Governing Council and 2nd year GPH students

The Student Governing Council will introduce a panel of 2nd year students who will open up to the incoming class of students about the challenges they had to overcome as 1st year students and how they did it, providing advice and comfort to the incoming class.

12:00PM - 1:30PM: Resume/Cover Letter Workshop with Miriam Miller, Senior Assistant Director, Graduate Student Career Development, NYU Wasserman

In this workshop, you will learn the tools to become a successful job seeker gaining an unfair advantage over so many of your competitors. 
There will be an open question and answer component to the workshop so you may ask any questions you have about how to write an effective cover letter.

 

4:00PM - 5:00PM: Peace Corps Information & Application Workshop with Sarah M. Steeley, NYU Peace Corps Campus Recruiter

Sharpen your skills in a field you've always loved, or challenge yourself with a new opportunity. 97% of Peace Corps Volunteers do some sort of health outreach while they are serving. Health Volunteers work within their communities to promote important topics such as nutrition, maternal and child health, basic hygiene, and water sanitation.

2:00PM - 4:00PM: Research Expo & GPH Student Clubs Fair

This event will provide undergraduate and graduate students with a unique opportunity to network with faculty and coordinators from several Centers, Labs, Initiatives & Programs associated with GPH and explore fields of practice. Representatives will share information about their research and discuss the profile of competitive candidates for current and future internship positions.

This event will also connect students with current GPH Student Clubs and all of the wonderful opportunities that they offer. Our clubs have the best possible insider information to share with students about the program and life as a student in NYC. 

During this event, The GPH Office of Communications will provide free professional headshots for student to use on your LinkedIn profile or other professional networks. Professional headshots aren't just for top executives; everybody needs one. This is your chance to drop in for a free professional photo! Available to registered students only.
