Students will learn the basics of Boolean Searching using AND, OR, and NOT to improve their search results and find the sources they need to complete their assignments. Students will learn how to use built in search limiters and expanders in subscription databases and BobCat. Students will learn how to select the right database for the search question that they have, whether it is a reference database, subject specific database, general database, or Google Scholar. Generally, you begin with more specific databases and expand to broader ones as needed to find sources you need. Selecting search terms and knowing how to connect them to get the best results is a goal of this workshop. We will also go over how to analyze your sources, so you can understand how to formulate the right questions and decide what information is useful to you vs what is not.
