Transforming Health Outcomes for Sickle Cell Disease Patients Across Continents: A Focus on Africa and North America

November 15
11am-12pm
708 Broadway, Room 801 / Online

Hosted by the GPH Department of Global & Environmental Health

Despite the extensive knowledge accumulated about Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) coupled with the availability ofevidence-based interventions (EBIs), individuals afflicted by SCD persist in enduring significant suffering and confronting notably worse health outcomes in comparison to other genetic disorders. To navigate these challenges and promote the broader adoption of HU, especially in a country like Nigeria, which houses the largest SCD population in Africa, Dr. Emmanuel Peprah will discuss a comprehensive implementation strategy, poised to unlock the potential for more widespread HU adoption, ultimately illuminating the path toward improved interventions and better outcomes for SCD patients. Through this dedicated work, his mission is to pave the way for a brighter and healthier future for all individuals impacted by this well-documented genetic disorder.
