Hosted by the GPH Department of Global & Environmental Health

In 2023 the Western Pacific Regional Office of the World Health Organization advanced a new framework to promote mental health in the region. Several key elements of the Future for Mental Health framework focus on reaching the unreached, utilizing participatory methods to elevate and partner with community partners including individuals with lived experience, and utilizing innovative digital mental health interventions. The overarching aim of this Framework is to address the avoidable inequalities in mental ill health in the region. This talk Dr. Brian Hall, Director of the Center for Global Health Equity and Professor of Global Public Health at NYU Shanghai, will highlight examples of community based and participatory mixed methods studies conducted with Filipino and Indonesian migrant domestic workers, African migrants, and Chinese young adults, including the first known implementation science trial of the WHO scalable Intervention Step-by-Step in Asia. Additional ongoing studies planned within the Center for Global Health Equity at NYU Shanghai will be discussed.
