Hosted by the Department of Epidemiology as part of the Epidemiology Seminar Series
School-based caries prevention can effectively increase access to care and reduce oral health inequities. In this seminar, Ryan Richard Ruff, PhD, MPH will discuss the CariedAway study which is a school-based, cluster-randomized, non-inferiority clinical trial of minimally invasive approaches to prevent and control caries in schools. Through this children received either an experimental treatment of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) or an active control of dental sealants and atraumatic restorations (ART).
Dr. Ruff is an epidemiologist and education researcher interested in school-based health systems and their effects on child development. He is an associate professor in the department of Epidemiology & Health Promotion at the New York University College of Dentistry and an associated professor at the NYU School of Global Public Health.
