GPH Earth Day Symposium: A Panel Discussion on Climate Action and Resilience in the Age of COVID-19

NYU School of Global Public Health celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day with a Symposium on Climate Action and Resilience in the age of Covid-19. Keynote speaker Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, guest speaker Lena Sinha-Connolly, Member of the FXB USA Board of Directors, and GPH faculty Jo Ivey Boufford, Jack Caravanos, and Alexis Merdjanoff discussed the convergence and interconnectedness of the two most pressing issues of our time, the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. Both these emergencies teach us “that we can’t ignore the signs of a crisis, and we can’t ignore science,” says Julie Tighe.  Together panelists and students explored the challenges, as well as opportunities for transformative change to ‘build back better’ – a more resilient and equitable society and planet earth.
