Art as a Change Agent: Healing from Trauma: A Discussion with Ugandan activist Jane Ekayu

November 13
6:30-8pm
NYU Gallatin, 1 Washington Place, Room 701

Jane Ekayu (Founder and Executive Director, Children of Peace Uganda) has created a rehabilitation practice with child soldiers in Uganda who have fought Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Her work is informed by her extensive experience as a child trauma therapist, incorporating dance, music, spoken word, and visual art into the healing process. In the fall of 2019, filmmaker John Ridley (BA ’87; Let It FallGuerrillaAmerican Crime; CEO, Nō Studios), along with Aviva Feuerstein (former Director of Global Intelligence Analytics, National Basketball Association), traveled to Uganda with a film crew to document Ekayu’s work. Join us at Gallatin for a discussion between Ekayu, Ridley, and Feuerstein and see clips from the footage made by No Studios of Ekayu and the children she has helped through Children of Peace.
