Hosted by the Health x Housing Lab in the Department of Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine
The intersection of mental illness and homelessness has become a hot-button issue in NYC and many are quick to make assumptions about solutions. However, the sectors involved in serving people experiencing homelessness and mental illness sometimes operate in silos or lack a shared understanding of how the current situation arose.
At this cross-sector conversation, we will hear from experts working in both the health care and homeless services fields on what happens when homelessness and mental illness overlap, the biggest challenges facing us in NYC, how we got here, and how we can ensure that fewer people fall through the cracks.
