William N. Rom Climate Change Fellowship Presentation

April 21
1-2pm
708 Broadway, 8th Floor, Room 801

Hosted by the GPH Global & Environmental Public Health (GEPH)

Please join us on Friday, April 21st for GEPH’s Earth Day Event. You will have the opportunity to hear from this year’s William N. Rom Climate Change Fellows, Hyacinth Burrowes and Dia Beggs. The fellowship this year is in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), one of the organizers of COP27. After having the opportunity to attend the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, the Fellows have been supporting UNDP in their efforts to analyze gendered health approaches to UNDP-supported energy transitions. The fellows have also been assessing the degree to which health is considered in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

Climate Change has become one of public health's greatest challenges: deaths arise from extreme weather events, drought affects food security, heat and heat waves, forest fires, and air pollution from fossil fuels, while sea level rise affects coastal populations. The William N. Rom Climate Change Fellows address these public health issues with projects on climate and health with a faculty mentor. Climate Change Fellow's projects range from urban health, small island states, and environmental justice to drought and storm-induced famine, and public health response.

Join us in supporting our Fellows as they present their WNR Climate Fellowship Presentations to the Global & Environmental Public Health Program and wider GPH community.
