Dr. Lisa Cooper is the James F. Fries Professor of Medicine and a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor at the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health. She is the Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity and author of the
book, Why Are Health Disparities Everyone’s Problem? (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2021). Dr. Cooper was appointed to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) by President Joseph Biden in 2021. PCAST counsels the president on developments related to science, innovation, and technology, including health and medicine.
