Hosted by the Department of Epidemiology
Join Dr. Chanelle Howe, Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Brown University School of Public Health, for the next talk in the Epi Seminar Series.
This talk will: (1) define the difference between a racial health difference and a racial health disparity; (2) provide recommendations for using causal directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) to quantify a racial health disparity; (3) demonstrate how causal DAGs can be used to determine when non-random selection can be considered to be a source of bias when quantifying a racial health disparity; and (4) use causal DAGs to discuss approaches for excluding a selection pathway from a racial health disparity measure to minimize bias.
