Graduate Student Mentors
Taehyo Kim, MS
Third year PhD student in Biostatistics | NYU School of Global Public Health
Taehyo Kim is a doctoral student at NYU School of Global Public Health specializing in Biostatistics. He received B.A.Sc in computer engineering at University of Toronto, and M.S. in computer science at NYU Courant. His research interests include high dimensional data analysis and machine/deep learning. Currently, he is working on topics including medical image analysis for Alzheimer's disease, survival analysis, and multi-modal data analysis. Outside of research, he can potentially be found at various tennis courts.
Taehyo will suport Dr. Shu for summer 2024.
Warsame Mead
Warsame will support Dr. Amegbor for summer 2024.
Kaitlyn Parrotte, PT, DPT, MS
Fifth year PhD student in Epidemiology | NYU School of Global Public Health
Katie Parrotte is a doctoral student concentrating in epidemiology at NYU's School of Global Public Health. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Katie worked as a clinical director and physical therapist in an NYC-based outpatient clinic, where she managed clinic operations and specialized in treating patients with various orthopedic and pelvic health conditions. Her research interests include exploring disparities in health outcomes and equitable access to care. She is a member of the Advances in Respiratory Equity (AIRE) Lab at GPH under the mentorship of Dr. Mari Armstring-Hough. Currently she is mainly engaged in Promoting Equity via Changes in Practice for Respiratory Failure (PRECIPICE), an NIH-funded funded study aiming to improve outcomes for Hispanic patients with respiratory failure by reducing inequitable delivery of ICU care.
Katie will suport Dr. Armstrong-Hough for summer 2024.
Cindy Patippe, MS
Second year PhD student in Biostatistics | NYU School of Global Public Health
Cindy Patippe is a PhD student in biostatistics with a keen interest in utilizing public health data to analyze and address health disparities. She holds a BS in Biology from Howard University and an MS in Biostatistics from New York Medical College. Her research focuses on developing statistical models to understand the underlying factors between discrimination and racial inequities. By leveraging large-scale public health datasets, she aims to identify and mitigate the systemic issues that lead to unequal health outcomes, ultimately contributing to more equitable healthcare solutions.
Instructors
Adrian Harris, MS
Statistical Analyst in the Center for Anti-Racism, Social Justice & Public Health | NYU School of Global Public Health
Adrian earned his Bachelor's of Business Administration in Statistics and Quantitative Modeling from Baruch College and Masters of Applied Statistics in Social Research from NYU. He interested in topics such as leveraging Causal inference, Simulations, and Bayesian inference to behavioral studies, Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning Ethics, and Arbitrage Strategies.
In his current role he supports NYU Center for Anti-racism, Social Justice and Public Health as a Statistical Analyst. Adrian's work consists of conducting statistical analysis for research topics such as identifying at-risk groups for genetic testing and for people that use opioids. His other areas of research include looking at disparities over time with public health outcomes from the CDC, helping in building a Racism & Public Health Survey and supporting faculty in their own public health research.
Adrian will teach the Introduction to Biostatistics course for summer 2024.

Jihan (Iris) Zhang, MS
Second Year PhD student in Biostatistics | NYU School of Global Public Health
I am a doctoral student at NYU School of Global Public Health with the concentration in Biostatistics. Before joining NYU GPH, I did my undergrad in applied mathematics with a minor in computer science at Case Western Reserve University and my master in data science at University of Pennsylvania. My research interests mainly focus on machine learning, especially on transfer learning, deep learning, and their applications to biomedical data.
Iris will teach the Introduction to Statistical Computing course for summer 2024.
